Behind the Design - the Sea Turtles

Posted by Claire Murray on

In April of 2010, the Gulf of Mexico suffered what was considered to be the largest oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry with the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon offshore oil exploratory platform.  This event inspired Claire to look at the deep impact of environmental disasters on our fragile ecosystem.  One of the creatures that was severely impacted was the Sea Turtle.

It's hard to say how many sea turtles were affected, but the numbers were devastating, and Claire wanted to be a part of the clean up in some small way.  The first year this rug was introduced, Claire donated a portion of the proceeds to wildlife conservacies to help with the recovery efforts.

The Sea Turtles rugs show how graceful these ancient creatures are, and hope to inspire people to become educated and help protect them.
